Yes. Although many people who answer yes to these types of question are not technically Irish, they are of Irish descent, which is completely diferent. Although many people who claim it don't think so. This iritates a lot of Irish people, although I just find it amusing. They think all we eat is corned beef!

Most people on the west coast of mainland Britain have some Irish Ancestry. Largely due to the near proximity to Ireland and also due to the massive influx of Irish people during the famines of the 19th Century. I hail from Lancashire and have Cork blood in me.

My father is from Limerick city in Ireland, he comes from the lanes a very rough neighbourhood mentioned in Angela's Ashes. However he didn't know Frank McCourt they were there at around the same time.
