Depends on the form of education; whether it be biased or based on truth. We can teach our children to hate or to love. We can teach and preach about "superior races" and "inferior races," but that does not reduce hate and racism in society. Education about other cultures PAIRED with unbiased truths of equality, over time. It will take a very long time for this occur; hate and racism is still strong in some nooks of society, but hopefully we can eliminate these barbaric attributes of society by pinpointing focus areas and setting up education plans to reach desired goals.

I believe that EDUCATION has already helped reduced racism in our society. There is far less racism in the world today than 40-50 years ago and we still have a long way to go.

It is really based on parents to stop these things. With the new testing standards teachers are faced with, they are really teaching the basics and they are not allowed to delve into religion. Even if educators were able to address these things, parents still mold their children in those first five years. So, no I don't think education will help reduce hate and racism in our society.

People are people regardless of what class or race they are born into. We norm and conform as part of a survival instinct. Education definately helps work us out of those instincts but the clincher is when people of different races, creeds and beliefs reach out and learn, love and understand each other.

All the education in the world won't help if your experience is that those that are different then you treat you like crap because you are different then them and tolerance is only valuable when EVERYONE tolerates each other. Otherwise the tolerant are eaten alive by the non-tolerant. Some prisions are like this, unless you choose to join and support the racist group your skin makes you a member of, your survival is unlikely. Regardless of how nasty or morally abhorrant that group may be.

Education is a good start, but the way to break down racial/creed walls is to be the nicest Black/White/Asian/Indian/etc person you can be so that others can truely say, because of you I decided my parents/friends/schools/churches views about your people were wrong. You are a really nice person and I'm glad to know you.

depends of what kind of education,, the system in usa teach you that white people are above any other group..whith those ideas you bring more hate and anger from anyone who is not white even though the person is not violent..noly when you take sociology classes you know that if you are white and u drop out high school and get no college education you still can make it and be rich some day but those oportunities are not the same for latinos or blacks..if you mean home training.. moral values that your parents teach you to respect people who are different than you. do not discriminate after all we are all the same to god...if they teach you skin no matter what matter is how far a human being can go in life if he o r she has perseverance, skills and try so hard..if your parents teach you TOLERANCE but that is almost impossible..the world is full of resentful feelings and vengeful feelings///there is soo many differences between racial groups cultures..etc..I have been in 5 countries..and I can say that the hate problem is more intense in USA than in Brazil or Ecuador or Panama , Colombia etc..etc..Brazil is close in segregation and racism to USA..but in the rest of LAtin american countries the difference between us is social class,, rich and poor.. perhaps after we got independance everyone else got the same rights blacks were free long time ago.. and they are nice calm and sweet people ,, we have exceptions of course.. but in America the black male is what the white male did from them..they believe white people own them .. they expect everything for free. they look someone to blame for all the time either whites or immigrants..immigrants do not take anything away from them, we do what they do not want to do.. and the same will happen to hispanics.. if you treat people like animals give them no protection in the streets if someone rob them or get mugged.. they will explode.. hispanic and black gangs will collide anytime and a lot of people will die.. the hate grows between those 2 racial groups.. violence go both ways is LA.. and white supremacy too..in NY the bullies are blacks cause mayority of immigrants are latinos.. without a blue passport they cant go to jail otherwise they will be deported so they do not retaliate most of the times but in 20 years the kids will retaliate.. the answer to your question is Tolerance and TIme will change that.. if you do not treat people as your equal the world would not be equal.. if you bully , steal or kill.. what you will get as an answer the same it is only a matter of time..how many years .. i do not know.. perhaps interracial marriages can help.. because the new kid will tie both families together..it is happening but until oportunities are not provided or people do not behave prejudice or aggresive is not going to change...only love will change the world .. but it is hard when you have been victim of any racial or hate attack..it happened to me for no reason and I still hate who attack me for no reason .. I do not understand why that happened.. I do not hate the racial group I hate the individuals..is the new fashion in NY get mugged for fun.. happen more often than you think..

Yes, but that type of education has to start in the home, with enlightened parents who begin by teaching their kids not to hate, and to accept others for the way that they are. Without that basis, any form of outside education will be hampered by what they are learning at home.

In my experience, learning about other nations and peoples and their differing cultures, values, and religious beliefs helps people to question long-held racist assumptions and appreciate diversity. This means hating less and understanding more.
Also, the psychology writer David Meyers wrote a book which I think was called Learning Not to Hate, in which he dealt with programs that specifically teach middle-school kids to value other people by forcing them to work together. His program had a lot of success in overcoming racism in schoolchildren, which I imagine would effect them the rest of their lives. I thought that was interesting.

i hate not being able to do what i want and that is caused by lack of money not hate, the hate comes from being stuck and then i get pissed at who gets the breaks and who doesn't and in that light the willful change to help meet quotas get the message that if we can't get it ourselves were screwed and that we are going to face the privileges of the quotas stuck in our face while we well not get these opportunities that are ear marked for minorities to take advantages of and we Can not, the new mexican thing is going to show u what i mean in the world of chaos for jobs their cheap shot will bring us people who will not benefit from them nothing and the system will be good financially but where does that leave the pissed off people who were getting screwed from the start, change the think tanks and maybe we wouldn't hate it so much and STILL DO

Pretty general question. I'd say in the state it's in, it's more likely to perpetuate racism, but it has the potential to reduce it.

I think education about other cultures, beliefs and languages will help people realize that we are all people. Some of us just pray to a different gods, wear different clothes and use different words to say the same things.
