Our relationship has been very rocky lately. Todays our anniversary and he said he's coming over but doesnt think it would be a big deal if we didnt spend one together. It REALLY hurt my feelings even though he gets on my nerves now days. He says he wants to ''have fun'' today....fun to him is him spending New Years with his low life brothers in a bar getting drunk or for all I know, cheating. I want this year to be a new beginning for us. I cant stand him sometimes but what can I do to make sure were off to a good start and have fun today?

You just listed several items that are red flags to me.
He gets on your nerves, he wants to be with his no good brothers, maybe cheating, says being with you in no big deal!!!!!!
I think that maybe this is the new year to start off new, by cleaning your closet of the excess debris. Him being excess debris....
How long are you going to sit by, unhappy unfulfilled and just plain miserable, before you do something about it.
It sounds like a dead-end street.. that I wouldn't want to live on,.
get off your butt, make plans with people who don't bug you, cancel your plans with him and get on with your life.
This is not a nurturing relationship and you are both very unhappy. Why on earth are you prolonging what you know you have to do????? 2007 is a good year to change your path and direction in life and get on with living as you should be.
He sounds very immature and is not grown-up enough for you. You are looking to him for something he can't and will never be able to give you.
This relationship is not rocky, it is over.....Cut the strings.... make some new connections.

He probably wants to watch football, and doesn't want to buy you a present. Women don't understand, or ever even consider that, but its big.

Is it an annual anniversary, or some month? That makes a big difference.

Sounds like it should be the first anniversary of your break-up
