my computer is a new one from computer fair After installing windows xp it shows a floppy drive when i do not have one installed --it also shows it in the bios --please can you help ? i have a American Megatrends Inc. P1.80
ALiveSATA2-GLAN motherboard Processor 4200+ AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core

Yep, I had this problem. You need to go into the BIOS (check your motherboard manual) but there will be something at the bottom of the screen that says something to the effect of "Press Delete to Enter Setup" though the key may be different for you.

Enter the BIOS and just instruct it that there is no Floppy drive installed. Usually the floppy drive is the first boot device by default and it will be selected by default. It's okay, it will eventually boot from the hard drive but that's why it's showing one installed.

Just tell the BIOS there isn't one. (you may have to check your manual on how to set that correctly)

It is probably a floppy driver installed.

Get an external floppy which connects via a USB.

Having a floppy access can be valueable - I have done it.

a computer can't start without a floppy drive installed, I would also say check your bios too
