The love and spiritual connection you get with someone you love doesn't happen at the moment of marriage it happens while you are dating. Marriage is really just a legal technicality. Is marriage the only way that a man can show his commitment to a woman? Isn't loving, caring and being there for you without marriage showing commitment to you. I'm just curious and like to better understand.

Marriage is important because our society has ingrained in women that she is basically worthless if she is not married.
A man can be a bachelor until he dies and populate the Earth 3 times over, and no one would bat an eye. He's not considered tragic or an old maid. Let a woman do the same thing, and she would be considered an old maid, if not a whore.
And you can even read the double standards on this board, if a woman is not married to a man she's been with for along time, then it's her problem, "why buy the cow?", and etc... I have yet to read one person calling a man out for his unwillingness to commit. People overlook it. No one asks him, "what the hell is wrong with you? Why do you want the milk for free?" He gets a free pass...the pass no one is willing to give to a woman.
I am not married to my partner and I don't care if we ever get married. He is commited to me and our family, and he is the most loving man I've ever known.
Being married doesn't mean your happy....it means just that....you're married. We are happy and in love, and that's more than I can say for many of my married/divorced friends.

Marriage is a public announcement and a legally binding contract to another person. Without the marriage contract, one person can leave without any explanation and there is no "penalty" for it. I believe a marriage contract is the way people reinforce that they are serious about the commitment they have made to their spouse. They are saying "Along with the spiritual, loving caring connection I share with you, I want you to have half of my worldly possessions and I want to make sure you are cared for if I die. I want any children we have to know I am committed to you and I want you to know that I love you enough to share everything, not just my love".
You say "important to women"- I actually know far more men that would like to be married right now than women. I really don't think it is a sex based thing.
Marriage is definitely not the only way to show love to another person- there are thousands of ways to do that, but it is the only one that you enter into a contract that you can't easily get out of, and that forces a person not to make knee-jerk decisions within.

Yes! marriage is the best way to show commitment to a woman. If you are not ready for marriage, then find someone on your level who wants to be loved and cared for without the commitment of marriage.

MARRIAGE IS THE ULTIMATE COMMITMENT AND SHOWS THE OTHER PARTY THAT YOU LOVE THEM! It is not just a mere "technicality" at all! It shows that you want to spend your life with them and have a family together. Marriage also gives the spouse rights, which otherwise wouldn't happen. A girlfriend or boyfriend has no legal standing and neither does a live in partner. If you have any respect and really do love the woman in your life, and wish to show it, then marry her.

You're right about the spiritual connection and love but that "legal technicality" entitles your spouse to your last living rights along with property, insurance, etc.
If you are on your death bed and your significant other is not married to you, she has no legal rights to make critical decisions. If you die and your significant other is not your spouse, your family could kick her out of your home and make her life with you seem completely meaningless. I know most women don't think about these things specifically, but they are big issues that do come in to play in life or death situations.
You can't buy that kind of security and for a woman..it's just extremely important to feel that your significant other understands that enough to take that next step...

It's only important to some women. It means s-hit to me. I don't want men to show any kind of commitment to me. I have better things to commit to.

I trust ZZ! And if that is in basic terms a chew of paper, why no longer in basic terms sign it? of path it is not in basic terms a chew of paper. it quite is a dedication to love somebody for existence and to stand by them even once you do no longer experience the affection. while a woman loves a guy and needs to love him continuously, she needs to appreciate that he feels the comparable way and that he isn't in basic terms together with her till some thing or somebody "greater effective" comes alongside.

its just that women love to try and have there men tied dow. they want to have us as slaves! Just joking. My real answer is that they just want us(men) to show them that we can be committed to one person. face it, 90 percent of men are now cheaters and maybe women feel that if we get married, then thats some proof that we wont go out and cheat and that we can make our women happy everyday!
