My baby had a red bump on her hip as I changed her this morning. I put some A+D ointment on it as I thought it may be irritation from diaper. Now, a couple hours later, it is a clear liquid blister with little ones around it. What is that? Could it be simply contact dermatitis from the diaper or something worse? Help!

It could be something worse. Stop reading this and take your baby to the doctor. Even if it is little still take your baby to the doctor.

Has she been exposed to anyone with chicken pox. To me that is what it sounds like. she could have even been exposed in a store by someone walking by. Two of my kids have had chicken pox. They were 4 and 7 months. My four yr old brought it home from school. They are now 10 and 6 so they had no problem with it. My daughter will have the immunization at 15 months. If it does not seem to bother her, just watch it for a day or two. if it spreads then you need to have her seen by her doc. It may be just diaper irratation and will go away on its own.

Its probably irritation from the diaper. Some babies are allergic to certain diapers.

Or it could be the creams or soaps or wipes you use on her.

Weed them out one by one until you figure out what the cause is.

Dont pop the blister, it will take care of itself.

It could also be that the tape from the diaper rubbed her skin until it blistered .

Babies have all kinds of little things happen like that. Make an appt. with the doctor to make sure it's not anything bad. Don't freak out. To me, in a adult I would say it sounded like it looks like a herpes outbreak. I don't know anything about it in babies but I assume you would know if you have it?? Right? So that's probably not it.
