I was reading an artical about baseball and it said something about an autographed card on clear acetate, but isn't this like a chemistry term or is this another word for like a sticker ? thanks

Acetate is a clear plastic substance like celophane. It is more brittle than Saran Wrap.

I'm going to make some assumptions. First of all I believe that the baseball article you read was probably referring to Triacetate a common mistake. Triacetate is a type of paper that is most commonly found in the world of professional photographers however has now been replaced by Kodak making a new polymer (many molecules together) paper which is what we use today. So by saying the card was printed on (Tri)acetate means that it is probably an older card from before at least the 1980's

Peter O and the Alchemist are indeed correct. In particular, it is cellulose acetate, made by treating cotton linters with acetic anhydride.
