Your father is an alcoholic. Alcoholism is a disease - removing all reason.
The only thing that can help your father to stay sober and be a good man again is your father's strong desire to do so. No one can successfully intervene if he does not wish for things to be different. I have known MANY alcoholics in my day, and their families walk out on them or drive them out all the time. Sometimes that works, sometimes it doesn't, but at least it takes everyone out of harm's way.
Good luck! Seek out Alanon! They can give you a place that is private to talk openly about how awful this is for you!

Check out ALANON..please!!..he won't change without sobering up..he won't sober up as alcohol is his best friend and he doesn't see a problem. The alcohol says these things not the man that is your father. You can't change him only he can do that...do you really think God only loves the people who have easy lives ? Each of us are given obstacles to overcome and become better people...maybe you were meant to use your experiences to help others. Good luck

your dad gets drunk because he wants to. it has nothing to do with you. god does love you but your father has taken the wrong path in life. i know it is hard but you can make it through this and you will be a stronger person in life because of the things you are going through now. my dad was the same way and i made it through. i'm married with 2 beautiful children and i have a great job. i didn't let my father's shortcomings ruin my life and you don't have to either. good luck to you and i hope knowing that someone else has gone through this can help you make it through. feel free to e-mail me if you need to talk.

God does love you, never lose your faith. Pray for your father, because there are only two ways he will quit drinking. Total abstinence, or death. A sober alcoholic is not always fun to live with either. Be happy your father is still alive and continue to pray for a solution...

He will not stop. You can't make him stop. All you can do is take care of yourSELF. Find an Al-Anon meeting and get there...with (or without) your Mom.
BTW: God DOES love you. Your life situation has nothing ot do with God's amount of love for you. You will learn much from this experience and perhaps share with others what you learn.

God loves you and your father. Go to school and talk to your counselor. Your counselor is there to help. You can also call a family member who would understand your problem and ask them for help.

Your father has to accept he has a alcohol problem. Offer program treatments. If the next time he yells or fight with you call the police. Sorry but is the best way if no one isn't listening to you.
