Computers don't actually 'know' anything. They only 'know' what is fed into them. There is an old saying in the IT industry - 'garbage in = garbage out.' If you told a computer that 2=2=5, then that is what it would tell you every time you asked it that question. Some older people do know lots of things but some don't. I've met some very knowledgeable young people. There's your answer!

Many scientists assert that machines will rapidly become far smarter than Albert Einstein. Maybe...but since computers can't do anything without instructions from a human, they're not that smart. They can do some things better than humans though. Computers calculate faster than humans. They are more accurate than humans. Computer can also store vast amounts of information, and they do not "forget" what they store. These kinds of qualities make computer wonderful tools to help people solve complex problems. But I don't think that makes them smarter than older people.

Older people have been learning for their entire life. They know a lot, some far more than others.
The computer is a machine, it knows nothing. It stores information put in by people. Without this information the computer is nothing.

Older people who know how to use computers know more than either alone.
There was a time when many people believed that if somehting was in print it must be true. Now, people like that believe that if something's on the internet it must be true. One of the benefits of beling older is that you have more experience of the reasons why people may say things that just aren't so - perhaps they believe it themselves, perhaps they have something to gain, perhaps they just enjoy messing with your mind.
If all you know comes from computers, you don't know nothing.

Depends on the older person, some of them haven't learned a single lesson in life, others are masters of the game.
All the ones in between certainly have time tested instincts to survive.
We have to teach computers constantly, they are more like highly adaptive infants.

may i call festus and idiot?
it depends on how you are asking, do older people know more ( then they do about computers? ) id say yes of course they do. if we are talking 60-100 year old ladies and gentlemen, they dont know what a computer is and think its from the devil. ( my grandmother being one of them she freaks out when seeing my laptop )
you could be asking do older people know more then computers know? no, i dont think so. that is a question that could be answered many ways and i dont think i am awake enough to BORE you enough with all my answers.

Ask an older person something and you get the benefit of their wisdom and experience, ask a computer and get ?? oh, it's only a machine.

Depends on your definition of 'know' . A computer does not have the emotional intelligence and common sense to support the hard facts stored, nor does it distinquish between which information is actually factual and which is dross.

a comp doesn't know anything, it's like a baby, it knows what it's taught by applications & programming, much like you've been taught, only it doesn't FORGET things, it does not have SELECTIVE memory (that is it does not choose to forget things) it does however have a limited memory capacity i:e 2 gig 4gig etc & will only store (remember) thing in it's memory it cannot forget what it did when it was 2yrs old so that it can remember things it did yesterday that has to be done for it.
no the comp does KNOW more; it just retains it's memory.

No. Older people will never be as smart as younger people, just ask any young person, they know it all. All that life's experience of older people is totally useless, just ask any know-it-all younger person.
