This is my first pregnancy. I have a belly but it isn't huge, I maybe look around 6 mths pregnant. I'm 5'4 and weighed 149 lbs pre pregnancy. I've gained 43 lbs since, and have the big butt and thunder thighs....gross I know!! I wonder if the smaller belly has has anything to do with me gaining all that extra weight??

You've gained a lot more then recommended (25-30lbs) and it's likely you can't notice the belly because of all the weight added everywhere else.

Or.. your baby is just in a position that isn't as obvious.

Some people just don't get big bellies. When i was pregnant I swore there was no way a baby could fit in there, because my stomach was so small. However you will notice a big difference in the last weeks of pregnancy when the baby can gain up to a 1 lb a week!!

The small belly has nothing to do with you gaining weight on your butt. I'm 32 weeks now also and my belly is still relatively small AND I can fit into my regular pants. I can't zip them, but they pull up all the way.
43 pounds is actually over what they recommend gaining during a pregnancy. And the "small" belly is just the way your body is carrying the baby. Every woman is different.

No offense to you - please don't take it this way! - but at 5'4 and 150 pounds, you weren't skinny going into this pregnancy. Your belly probably only looks small to you because you started off with a good amount of body mas and then have gained weight all over and not just in your belly. If you were thirty pounds smaller when you got pregnant, it would probably stick out alot more!
However, don;t stress if the kid is healthy, and if you look and feel good at 150 pounds then don't try to lose baby weight beyond that. Still, there's no reason not to reassess your diet and exercise habits, and adjust them to help you have the healthiest body possible.

I just delivered two and a half weeks ago, and anyone who sees me now (and didn't know I was pregnant) can't believe I was!! I was about your pre-pregnancy weight and same on height. I delievered a 6 lb, 8 oz baby girl. She was a little small....but perfect. I also gained most of my weight in my butt and thighs (ugh!) but from what I've read, that's fat stores for breast feeding. Good news is, I'm back to my pre-pregnancy weight already, and since I'm breastfeeding, I know my butt and thighs will be back in no time.

Ask your doctor to estimate the babys weight....that might put your mind at ease.

With my first my belly didn't get that big until the last month. Your muscles are tighter with first pregnancies and don't stretch as much as later pregnancies. As long as your ob says you are measuring good then don't worry about it. Be thankful!

so your carrying the weight on your rear and thighs.. I knew a girl that used to look like a watermelon so don't feel so bad. Two months to go and it will all be a bad dream. your weight gain is about right so try to maintain or its gonna be hard to lose it!
