cuz i have software on my c/drive that i just wanna move off of there but dont wanna delete...

Yes, you can put everything from files to programs on one. When you're installing a program just put your external hard drive as the location

It works just as any other drive. the only issue is if you disconnect it or not, I have one that I store music on that I carry to parties sometimes. if you try to access a file on the drive, when it is disconnected (or moved) you'll get an error (the little box with the flash light) so I wouldn't recommend using it for programs if you take it off.
Also, you should be careful when moving program files, this can cause many programs not to work, cause when they go looking for a file and its not where its supposed to be you could get into trouble.

Yes. When you install be sure to specify that the external is chosen as the target drive. Installing and moving the file doesn't always work.
