My rabbits keep chewing the edges of the carpet and scratching it, ripping you, things like that. I give them toys, snacks, all that stuff for their cages but they both still misbehave. Is there anything I can put on the carpets that will make them stop doing what they're doing?!

Oh and everytime I cover the carpet areas they are chewing, they pick a new spot. They also jump on my bed and pee around the room sometimes..

My rabbits like it better inside. They are both litter box trained but sometimes they get lazy or whatever and decide to pee else where. I've had rabbits for over 6 years so I know info about them already. I've had one of my rabbits in this area for about a year and my little one now for 5 months. They hate the kitchen floor so that's why I let them run around on the carpet. I give them cardboard tubes with hay in them, also a good amount of hay and I also have a big piece of cardboard in each of their cages because they like to sleep on them. Many times when they come out they sit around so the carpet isn't much of an issue. My older rabbit is getting better now but my little one likes to cause trouble sometimes!

That behavior is natural to rabbits so spay or neuter them and it will definetly help behavioral problems!
Also try giving them a cardboard box with hay or ripped newpaper for them to dig.
I believe there are some products that you put on furniture and it has a bad taste so you can try that!
Make sure to give your rabbits plenty of chew toys or take some branches off fruit trees and they love to chew them!

Everytime they do something bad like eat the carpet or pee, say "No, No, No!" And give them a little not hard tap on the nose. That way they know they have done something wrong. But make sure you do this right after they have done it. Otherwise they won't know why you are punishing them. Also if they pee, pick them up right away and put them in their litterbox. Also, I have heard of using a spray bottle. When they do something bad, say "No, No, No" and spray them with the water bottle. That might work better than the tiny tap on the nose. If nothing works, you might want to make a pen with newspaper because they don't like the floor. You better do something quick because they can get a blockage from the carpet and die.

We have a rabbit also, who's peed on the bed and floor, chewed the curtains and anything on the floor. We got some puppy training pads and so far its worked on the floor. Not sure on bed yet as we try to keep her off the bed. The best thing is confine your rabbit to non-carpeted area such as the kitchen. Unfortunately, my house came with carpet in every room or I would do this myself. She is closely supervised, but still manages to find things. You can also buy a play yard meant for rabbits and use it in the carpet areas with plastic over the carpet and put the puppy pad in there for the rabbit to use.. We use one of these play yards for our hamsters, but a scaled down size. We're training her use the smaller hamster one and not to jump over the play yard fence, so far so good, she listens quite well to us on not jumping over. This web site is one place where you can buy one from: www.drfostersmith.com and got to small pets, then exercise pens. They have a large one for $33.99 plus shipping. Another thing is ask a vet about something that can be put on the carpet like your would for a puppy that chew on furniture. Give your rabbit fresh carrots to chew on also. Ours only seems to chew paper. Do you use a litterbox for your rabbit? I've always used one with mine and didn't have the digging problems and use a pine type litter in it.

I have two bunnies myself, and I keep them inside the house, where there are carpets in all of the room.

So, to bunny-proof the room, I recommend covering the floor with a fleece blanket. You can get cheap ones from IKEA or any supermarket. This way, their nails won't get caught in the carpet, and even if they have an 'accident', you can just take the blanket and wash it.

I think it's worth it, because your rabbit may end up with a clogged stomach causing stomachache if he/she eats too much carpet! It's much cheaper to buy few pieces of fleece blankets, put them on the floor, and wash them every now and then, than having to end up bringing the rabbits to the vet!

There's a grapefruit spray you can get for rats/ferrets, it's called 'citricidal'. Completely harmless to pets, it's just that they tend to not like the taste and it supposedly stops them chewing if you spray it on whatever it is you don't want them to chew.

Chewing is natural to them, and a lot of the time you'll never stop it, but some people swear by this stuff so maybe it's worth a try :) If you're interested you can get it from ratwarehouse.co.uk

Good luck!

rabbits chew alot of things and some are harmful. keep them in the cage unless you take the time to play with them. and some rabbits are litter train. you should have gotten more study infro before you got rabbits. and they should be outside in the fresh air where nature intend them to be

I had this exact same problem with my rabbit. It may help to give him something to dig in (e.g. a sandbox), or to restrict him to uncarpeted areas.
