no one actually pays the csa they are there to arrange maintenance payments on behalf of the government as per the child support laws currently in place. Which are due to be changed at tsome point next year.
the money is paid to support the person with care of the child in bringing that child up. so in a way it isnt supporting the child directly put supporting the parent to bring up that child.
most times under the current laws that is not as much money as people would like but who knows things may change for the better....hmm and then again icould win the lottery...

I had a bad experience of the CSA. They set how much I had to pay them (ridiculously low) and when I asked if I could pay more was told condescendingly that "That is what the government has decided you have to pay".
They then kept failing to send out the forms so I could pay them directly and kept taking it from my wages (minus £1 per week that my employer charged for this)
The money took months to get to my ex, CSA blamed my employers, my employers confirmed with me they had paid it (they do this automatically for a number of people and have someone specific that handles it). Then they sent me a letter saying I hadn't been paying and they were taking action.
All I can say is the system is a shambles.
Eventually we came to our own agreement but I still can't believe how insulting that guy was at the CSA when I wanted to pay more and how I never got an apology for all the mistakes, they just assumed I was a no good absent father and treated me like s$$$e even though I was perfectly happy to do more than they asked.
sorry for the rant but these people are a disgrace

It seems to me everyone gets penalised because of the few rats who refuse to pay support for their child. I think each case should be viewed separately. Some Mothers remarry and are very well off while Dad may be in a 2nd marriage and cannot afford another child or his new wife is helping pay the child support. All finances should be taken into account. How sad that parents can't sort the access and payments out without fighting and using the kids as bargaining weapons.

Depends on your court order. Child support, medical expenses, insurances, day care, tax deductions are all usually considered separately. In some cases, even clothing and toys are dileanated within the decree.
Either parent can take the case back into court to get these things down in writing. If you cannot afford an attorney, check with your county clerk about filing a pauper's petition.

True.
but the alternative, in many cases, is that the parent with the child (usually the woman) get absolutely FA, and the parent without the child (the Man), usually ends up supporting the brewery and cigarette manufacturing industries

Yes, you are right. Often the money goes to whatever parent is supporting the child. Yet it does not mean this money is SPENT on said child. It could be spent by the parent on the parent!

Hmm, sounds like a mighty convenient excuse not to pay child support?
