The following is a section of the website : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saddam_Hussein
Main article: Trial of Saddam Hussein
On June 30, 2004, Saddam Hussein (held in custody by U.S. forces at Camp Cropper in Baghdad), and 11 senior Ba'athist officials were handed over legally (though not physically) to the interim Iraqi government to stand trial for war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide. A few weeks later, he was charged by the Special Tribunal with the mass killings of the inhabitants of the village of Dujail in 1982 after a failed assassination attempt against him. Among the many challenges the trial suffered throughout its course:
* Saddam and his lawyers contested the court's authority and maintained that he was still President of Iraq.[38]
* Several of Saddam's lawyers were slain and one fled Iraq after being wounded.
* Midway through the trial, the chief judge was replaced after accusations of bias against Saddam.
On November 5, 2006, Saddam Hussein was found guilty of crimes against humanity and sentenced to death in absentia.[citation needed] His half brother and the judge at the trial of the original case in 1982 were also convicted of similar charges. The verdict and sentence would were appealed but they were both upheld.[39] Days later, on December 30, 2006, the sentence was carried out and Saddam executed by hanging.[9]
*gen·o·cide
–noun

Because he was found guilty of ordering the murder of 150 or so people, including boys 13 and over, after someone took a pop shot at him. And because keeping him a prisoner endangered all those in Iraq.....in case he bribed a guard and got out. There are also no more places to exile someone where they would be unable to launch a come-back.

Because he had killed so many Innocent people in his own country. He did not deserve life in jail that was to good for him. He was a ruthless dictator and did not stop to spare anyone Else's lives. I am glad they sent him to be judged by a higher power. I feel terrible for all of the victims families.

He would have entire towns killed off...women, children. It did not matter to him who he killed. He even ordered the deaths of some of his own children! He should have been hung 1,000,000,000 times over just for that. I think they should have let his own people take sticks to him before the hanging

Guilty of ordering mass murders.
His own son's were some of the biggest torturers of their own people. And he ordered all of this.
He went to the grave defiant and still thinking that he had done nothing wrong. One of those that rehabilitation wouldn't have helped to change and see how he was wrong.

He was convicted for crimes against humanity and sentenced to death by the Iraqi courts. That sentence was subsequently carried out in accordance with Iraqi law.

Did you see what he did to his own people, his own family? He was tried and found guilty of crimes against humanity. His sentence was death, and he got it. Hanging was to swift for him, at least he is gone, but there are still to many like him out there, and there always will be.

Because he has killed others. That is the way it should be if you kill somebody then you should be killed yourself. Hopefully the USA will be like this some day and maybe we won't have so much violence.
