Three-toes come from a range where not all hibernate, and many will only do so for a few weeks.

You can hibernate if you wish. It does make it easier to breed them, but it is also very, very risky if you do not do it right.

if three toed box turtle's need to hibernate at winter time,then you should let the turtle hibernate,of course!

I dont think you have a choice. i think all turles hibernate. Ours does. We have a box turtle. Around Sept his eating slows down and he's not as active, and his eyes stay shut..........around April he perks back up again, and he's back to normal. The first year it scared us, but i think he is just hibernating.
