Why can people not just read all the questions regarding Saddam that have been asked on here today. Its all getting a bit boring. I'm sure you'll find the answer you are looking for on the other 100s of Saddam questions.

Why people ask this, I'll never know. In the words of an Iranian somewhere: "As an Iranian, I hated Saddam for what he did to my country, but as a human, I feel sorry for him." Except I'm not Iranian and Iran is thus not my country.
