No matter how long or short of period of time I hold in the pilot button (30 seconds to 5 minutes) I have the same results, the pilot light goes out. Also, I can not find a 'reset' button on it anywhere.

Chances are that the thermocouple is bad or that the flame of the pilot light is not hitting it so it heats up. It's not uncommon for them to quit working. FYI the thermocouple is a small copper tube that the pilot flame hits and signals the gas valve that it is safe to turn the gas on to the appliance...Good Luck...

One form of the thermocouple being bad is an experience I had: I followed the thermocouple wire to where it connected to the gas valve, and unscrewed the nut holding the wire connected. With a partner holding the pilot button and a flame on, I measured the current in the wire with an ammeter. (The wire was coaxial. One conductor was the center, surrounded by insulation, which was itself surrounded by the second conductor.) The current reading was 15 milliamperes ("mA"). When I saw that the thermocouple was turning heat into electricity, as it is supposed to do, I figured that the problem was not in the thermocouple. I reattached the nut carefully, and screwed it on tighter than it had been before. After that it worked perfectly. I saved whatever it would have cost to buy a new one.

So run that check before spending money. If you are lucky, that will fix it. If not, and you are not reading any current or voltage, then try replacing the thermocouple, since that's the likely culprit.

If you use propane with the big tank in the yard, go lift the lid up and check the gauge and make sure you actually have gas in it. I would guess it is empty or the regulator is shot, call the company who delivers your propane. If you use natural gas, call the gas company and make sure you weren't disconnected, payments get lost sometimes. If you haven't been disconnected there may be a problem with their meter where it comes into the house, or they may be servicing lines in the area they should also be able to tell you this info as well. I've seen it before. They should come and fix this free if it is their equipment that is faulty. All appliances stopping at the same time would be very odd.

Possibly the pilot flame is not large enough. Check the user manual to see if there is a pilot flame adjustment means.

If you don't have the manual, probably it is available on Coleman's web site.

sounds like the thermo coupling is bad.
