Well back in the day when all the old skool rappers got together and made that rap song called Self Destruction that was hot. Then Tupac "Keep your head up". Queen Latifah's rhymes from back in the day (like Ladies First w/ Monie Love) that was inspirational. Salt and Pepper "Independent and Express Yourself" those were all inspirational. That's the rappers I grew up with. As for today, I don't really get inspired by the new kids that's coming out. They are all about sex, death, destruction, and materialism. What's so insiring about that? Well a rapper, I say he sort of old skool is NAS he has always had something positive to say like the duet he did with Lauryn Hill a spin off of Kurtis Blow's Album "If I ruled the World". I love that version and Curtis Blows version. But back to these new kids, a lot of them front saying they have all of this bling, bling and don't have a pot to piss in or a hole to crawl out of. They don't know they anus from they're elbow yet they want to tell you how to live your life. So the new kids I think they need some serious direction.

I like rap. In fact, I like most music. I could care less if ppl go around bashing rap. I think it's funny when some1 gets really angry over it! Yes rap talks alot about that stuff. What did you expect? These are a bunch of "gangsters" from the "hood". Not all rappers talk about sex, money, and drugs. Some are CHRISTIAN rappers and rap about god. One example is Kirk Franklin.

I think rap now adays sucks, other than some songs with a nice beat pretty much everything else is crap. I dont think any rappers are insperational, but i thought Tupac rapped about alot of scoial issues like Keep your head up and Brendas got a baby also loved dear mama and so many tears.

I personally hate rap music, if you can call it music. You're right that all it talks about is sex, drugs, and money. None of it is inspirational or worth it. I want to listen to something with real inspiration, real meaning. If it doesn't have that, then I don't think it's worth it at all.

I say there is. Take Eminem for example. He raps a lot about how hard his life is, and how he managed to live on. He also raps about how much he loves his daughter. I think that is a positive thing.

Not all rappers spread the bad vibes...

I can't think of anything inspirational I've heard in it. It's a shame, too. Some of those artists are undoubtedly gifted, but lazy. Bustin' out with the N-word, sex, money, drugs, violence...it just makes impressionable kids think that's what life's all about.

Do I listen? Yes. But you don't have to worry about a mild-mannered 38 year old white guy acting on the idiocy.

Sorry I'm not into it. I think its focus is mostly on negative aspects of life, and gives the impression that it's ok for life to be all gangs, drugs, sex and crime. I would rather focus on the positive. How can you expect children to strive for something more if all they are surrounded with is negative?
