ing to get the quick cheap points, what is the point of that?...Is there some prize if you win even if you have not even tried to help anyone????? Thanks to all of you who really try out there, getting best answer is really cool, but just knowing you tried t help is even better, people just leaving a one or two word answer for the 2 points.....not so cool....happy new year and again, thanks to all the great people out there who are in it to help and be helped, not to win!!!!!!

The reason that I participate at this site is to help people. I have plenty of time to give a thorough answer, and I love to do Internet research to learn more.

For the most part, I only choose those questions for which I can provide a clear, concise reply. The only exception are questions that are meant to be funny, and I may toss off a one or two sentence response. But otherwise, I give the best information I can possibly find, even if it takes me a while to post.

I like getting a "Best Answer," but I also like the feeling of knowing that I earned it with good research and a thorough, informative response.

And a very Happy New Year to you, too!

I'm Italian and I've completely stopped to post into the Italian section (just after a few days after having been registered to Yahoo). You've nor an idea how many silly questions and worse answers are "flying"over there. In this US/UK section I still read a few of them but believe me you're still living on a "lucky island" if compared to my Country's Yahoo.
I can't understand the reasons moving this people answering just yes,not or I don't know, absolutely not at all helpful. Or let's say that it can be only explained by the fact that, as we say here in Italy, "dumb people's mums are always pregnant".

No prize. Must admit I am somewhat guilty of trying to get cheap points, but then I was just beginner. Now my answers are fairly well thought out and sincere. My advice to you: Ignore the cheap answers and forget about 'em. Have a happy, healthy 2007.

cheap points? nah. That's not what Yahoo! Answers is all about. Just ignore the dumb replies and then up-rate the ones that are actually well written. Turn the Web 2.0 thing in your own favor.

I know what you mean!!!!! I've been experiencing that too! Someone will just put down some STUPID or rude answer just to get the points. Those people should get kicked off this website. Trust me, I'm not one of those people! Happy new year to you too!

I don't care about the two points of every answer but it does bother me that I don't get more best answers.

That is exactly how I feel! If you are not even remotely answering the question, please, do not answer at all. It really does slow down the process. You should answer peoples questions seriously, just like you would want them to answer yours.

Happy New Year to you too!!!

You are right.

Some questions call for, and generally get, extremely helpful answers. Others, call for, and get, smartass and sometimes hiliariously funny answers. Happy New Year!
