What does it mean if someone tells you that you have black people hair and I'm white? Is that good or bad? What does it mean if a black person tells you that your hair is "like black folks,"and some one comments that they didn't know they could do white girls hair and she replies "it has to be nappy like this." Is that good or bad? My hair's not what I consider nappy. But just what did she mean when she says that?

Your hair is the same texture as a black person's. You can do a lot of cool styles with your hair. If your not feeling it, get it straightened.

The people, black and white, who make those comments are not saying that it's good or bad. And she didn't "mean" anything. They are simply making an observation. An example would be, "Your hair is redder than my aunt's" or "You're tall enough to be a basketball player".

I had extremely curly hair growing up and wanted straight hair very badly. It wan't until I was in college and had heard from straight-haired girls (about 2,000 times) how they wished they had my hair, that I began to appreciate what I had. I quit: ironing it, spending gobs of money at the hair dresser to get it straight, and being ashamed of my hair. I began to grow into who I was and to like the things about me that made me different. I hope you can make your peace with this. It's such a small thing in the Great Universe. Good Luck to you...

mmm.. it means you probably have a black person hidden some where in your family tree.

That being a good or bad thing is totally up to you. But personally I think its a good thing.

ciao!

Are you happy with your hair? Does it REALLY matter what other people think about your hair? I wouldn't worry about it. The hair is on your head....not hers.
