i think that many of our sorrows can be traced with our lack of good coping skills and therefore, we allow ourselves to let other people treat us poorly

Not if you dont dwell on them.
You have your good and bad relationships. and if you tirerlessly nit pick at them then yes, you can find a lot of sorrow but if you move on and admit the you did things and they did things wrong and right then you can live without being pulled down by the past. and no one shouldh ave to live like that.
i believe that relationships with the wrong people within a family impact us much more than just normal growing pains relationships. have the wrong relationship with someine can live with you forever.

Absolutely! However, it's important that we learn our lessons with each relationship and not hold on to those that are toxic. I no longer speak to my mother or any of my siblings because they had a toxic affect on my life and that of my son. I cannot, and will not, allow negative, dysfunctional, addicted people to remain a part of my life. It's easier, and healthier, to let go and go on.

Absolutely..because of an abusive alchoholic husbad my mother's life was horrible..an so was mine.
