me and my friends always play a game called freeze. you pick a scenario and two people act it out. then when they get to a climax, someone says freeze, steps into the scene and starts a completely different one. it's helps your improvisational skills.

Such an open question can't really be answered here, but I will try:
1) Exercises? Well, depends on what you want to accomplish. Some do some things, others do others. I think you'd get a lot out of Utah Hagan's book "Respect for Acting" has lots of things to do, which I liken to a piano playing doing scale drills. It might not be music per say, but you really can't play without them.
2) I'd ask you - if you wanted to be the world's greatest spaghetti eater, what 1 thing would you HAVE to do to ensure success? The answer? Eat spaghetti! "Good" is kinda like the "most beautiful", it's in the eye of the beholder. Still, when I taught this stuff there were four "performer p's" I'd give my students. Essential skills, so to speak. I'll try to be brief --
a - Pronunciation (clarity of speech; being understood)
b - Projection (volume of speech; being heard)
c - Poise (body control and ability to create character physcially)
d - Personality (hard to explain, but in a nutshell; find a way to have fun, and let the audience know you're enjoying yourself. Even though it sounds odd, you can do this even in the middle of the most serious Tenn. Williams scene.
Hope this helps, and best of luck!

there are several very helpful exercises which you can use to help improve you acting skills. Have you ever heard of Improvisational? It is a exercise that can also be taken as a class, when you are told...
example~ You are driving down the road in a hummer and you need to pick up 2 hitch hikers who have something not normal about them. You work with what is given you and act out how your character would feel and react.
That is just one exercises, there are so many others! I recommend taking a theater class so you can develop your acting skill with the help of a professional.
The best thing to do to be a good actor would be to show your passion for it. When you audition tell the judges how much you want to be in a show by the way you perform. Just work hard and you will get it.

Look up Viola Spolin's "Theatre Games," and "Improvisation for the Theatre." Plenty of good things there!
