I wondered if there was a psycological explanation about attraction to hairy men.
Some say that it has something related to childhood experiences, but I don't know for sure.
I like big, hairy manly men, and I'm a smooth slim guy.

As with much of the mechanics of attraction it is most likely a HUGE combination of various factors throughout a person's life. Classical conditioning as a child like the teddybear thing people have already suggested etc etc.
BUT... Since most people believe that your personality and preferences are set before the age of 5 my best bet is that the majority of things you look for in a prospective mate are set around that age (well probably the perameters of what you find attractive but I would think that the fine tuning happens through your experiences later in life). Combo nature and nuture sort of thing.

Yes. Childhood. Cuddling up with a hairy man brings back the comforting and secure feeling we once had as children hugging our furry teddy bears which made us feel safe & relaxed.

It has to do with something called "taste" or "preference". Why do some prefer country music or jazz to rock? Why do some prefer the operas of Mozart to those of Verdi or Wagner? Do you think those preferences have to do with psychological issues or childhood experiences? I think not. I think it's just a matter of aesthetic tastes.

The rules of attraction are different for everyone. Why are some hetero males attracted to big boobs, while some love big bums?

I don't believe that psychology has anything to do with it, but I could be wrong. I think that it's just "taste".
Someone likes skinny people, someone else likes fat people, some white-skinned people prefers dark-skinned people, and so on.
