Well first find out how much bofy fat you have because you may weigh alot but that may be because of muscle because muscle weighs more than fat. But first find out how much body fat you have the percentage and how much of your total weight it takes up and then analyze your body and see where most of your fat is...whether it is in your stomach or your legs or maybe your arms...once you know that then try to work on those areas...if your not trying to build muscle then do not do alot of weight lifting if you do decide to do weighlifting then do small weights and lots of reps...(if you can't lift it 9 times its to heavy and if you can lift it more than 20 its too light)...but try to stick to aerobics and don't do the same workout everyday because your body can adapt and then you will start to decrease how much fat you are burning and work out for at least 45 minutes and always remember to warm up your muscles as well as cooling them off which most people do by strectching and don't forget to change your diet but don't eat little portions just controled portions because once you've reached the amount of weight that you wanted to lose you still have to continue to eat good and healthy...

You can determine body fat by using a 'fat caliper' and determining your fat to body ratio. Go to a local gym and get a trainer to assist you with the measurement. Losing weight is a variable and personal thing and depends on a number of factors. Your health, ability, eating habits, exercise habits and above all...desire to want to make a commitment are all key factors. You need to make changes to your lifestyle and forget about the word 'diet' in the traditional sense. You do have to eat healthier, 4 to 6 small meals per day, more protein once you start working out, good multi-vitamins like you'd find at a health food store, cardio and weight training. I have completely transformed my body in one year by making a 'commitment'. Not only do I physically look better than women half my age, people frequently ask for my advice because they want to look like me. This is not being conceited...it's through a lot of hard work, but it's paid off big time. I eat more than I ever have because I 'work it off'. I commit to cardio 3 times per week, lift weights 2 or 3 times per week and can sometimes lift more than some of the guys. There is a misconception that if women lift weights they will look masculine. This is NOT true. That is only the case if they are taking steroids. My body is feminine but firm. Consult fitness magazines for some great advice (Shape, Oxygen, etc.). Don't give up and make your New Year's resolution stick. You won't regret it!

The best way to lose weight is to consume fewer calories in a day than you burn...actually, that's the only way. That means eat a healthy diet of reasonable calories, and exercise regularly.
There are many charts online...type "height weight" (no quotes) into your search engine and peruse the sites that come up. You'll find various charts that go by your height (sometimes even age) to determine the appropriate weight for you...some even break it down by frame size (small, med, or large boned).

Don’t get overwhelmed by how much weight you need to lose. Try to remember that "losing 15 pounds in two weeks" is nothing to celebrate. It is important to realize that the more quickly weight is lost, the more likely the loss is coming from water and muscle, not fat.
