when an anion and a cation bond together one gets electrovalent or ionic compound.Just remember that when two atoms bond with varying electonegetivities it will always be ionic bond.
Here the anion gives electrons while the cation gains one.

an anion is a nonmetal and a cation is a metal therefore it is an IONIC bond. a covalent bond is between two nonmetals and a metallic bond is between metals.
