Despite the fact that I have none nor ever had any power over the casting of the Lord of the Rings - I would probably hope for the role to be filled by Arnold Schwarzenegger. Can't you imagine that?
"Mr. Frodo! We're going to Rivendell?"
"Doon't vorry, Sam. Ve'll be bawk."
or when the ring is destroyed...
"Hasta la vista... babeh"

Well, LOTR mainly revolved around the one ring forged by the Dark Lord Sauron. He wanted to well, rule middle earth. He was defeated in a war between him and the peoples from middle earth. Frodo Baggins is the ring bearer of the same ring. It came to him through his uncle, Bilbo who found the ring in Gollum's cave. Gollum had the ring for 500years. The ring wanted to get back to its master, that's Sauron. Oh dang, I guess this is going to take a little while. Goggle it hon :) I love LOTR so much.. I memorize the lines by heart. :) I'm glad you're glad that you can ask hard questions but it does not have to be hard you know... just enjoy :)

I am sure there were some English actors that could have worked as well. I mean, I had never heard or Billy Boyd or Dominic Monaghan before LOTR

I may be going out on a limb here, but I think Edward Norton (The Narrator of Fight Club) could have done a good job.

Tough one. . .Elijah nailed the character. Hmmmm. . .maybe (and that's a big maybe) Jim Caviezel. He has the eyes and intensity, but I think he would look too old.

No one else. Elijah is the best to play the part. He knew exactly what he was doing and did it well.
