We thought Hugh Jackman, and a few others. But what do you think?

My choice (and one whom the producers actually approached before Craig, but turned it down) would've been Ewan McGregor; "Casino Royale" is about a younger, less experienced Bond, and I thought McGregor would've conveyed that sort of youth. But personally, I would've put another Brosnan movie into production earlier and released it in 2005 as his swan song, and then debuted McGregor in Casino Royale in 2007. I mean, come on, it's 2*007*, what moron wouldn't try to make that an auspicious year for James Bond?

Frankly, I don't think Hugh Jackman is a good enough actor to handle it.
I would have been thrilled to see Clive Owen take the role, but I thought Daniel Craig was terrific, and I look forward to seeing him play the part again.

Heck yeah !!! i would have loved to seen Hugh as "james bond" he's so suave and sexy and would have done a great job !!! and plus Hugh's one of my favourite actors !!!! but the best "james bond" will always be Sean Connery !!!! ''the name is Bond, James Bond" .....

Dougray Scott would have been my first choice. He looks the part, can act and it would be nice to see the role come back to a Scot again.
I also quite like Clive Owen for the job since he too looks the part and can act.

When Timothy Dalton's name was being bandied about, i was pushing for Sam Neill (he did "Reilly: Ace of Spies" and was great)
Before Craig was chosen, Clive Owen was a good one, but he declined to do "edgier" roles
