knowing the news will not change the news.. it only changes how we live and think and feel about the world.. its a downer generally and sometimes the media only reports certain things which distorts peoples views...
eg. Crimes involving blacks are reported disproportionatly more than those involving whites...
Dog attacks invovling Pit Bulls are reported more - even though Cocker Spanial attacks WAY out number pit bull attacts

the news only reports the problems not how to fix them

a good movie about the Media's distortion and how it creates fear as mind control is BOWLING FOR COLUMBINE

I stopped watching TV news about 2 weeks after 9/11, after the shock wore off. I keep up on current events through the newspaper( mostly headlines)
There is something unnatural to me about a newscaster who keeps a deadpan face while telling me a bunch of people died in some tragedy or another. I especially don't want my kids to watch. They make A LOT of money off of tragedy, and that doesn't sit right with me. You know those news execs are saying things like. "200 people died in a crash today, THATS GREAT NEWS !"

Last night a particularly violent string of thunderstorms blasted their way through southern New England (especially here in Rhode Island). The rain hammered down like bullets, and the streets were soon flooded. I remember commenting to my wife about the loudness of the pouring rain. The frequent and brilliant lightning along with the exploding thunder were impressive. It was a classic storm to watch old reruns of the old Gothic soap opera "Dark Shadows".

I really just altogether quit watching. It was the day the breaking story was a death, the weather was about a tornado that killed so many people, then the sports was about some famous legend that died.

Plus, all the news is, is governmenr propaganda. we only hear what they want us to hear. Take for instance the war on Iraq. watch a news beodcast from another country, you'll see the difference.

No offense the liberals or democrats, but why do you think these were coined?

CBS Clinton Broadcast Service
NBC Nothing But Clinton
ABC All Bill Clinton
CNN Clinton News Network
MSNBC Monica Sucks Nothing But Clinton

I try to keep up with the basic news, but the majority of news nowadays is all about propaganda, so I care less for that. I miss the days when reporting news was done solely for that reason, not who can get the most ratings

Most definitely I watch the news. How can you not keep up to date with what is happening in our world? You need to stay informed so you will know what you are talking about. I, like so many others, have family members in this war and I need to know what is going on. I have always been refered to as the family "newshound".

If you walk through the forest late at night you stay alert and keep an eye out for dangers, don't you?

The same applies to the news, current events, and government actions. If you don't watch out, stay alert, and defend yourself, something is going to bite you.

Yes, I have to. Being complaisant and hiding our heads in the sand like an ostrich will not make things go away. Only in your lil mind. Question your government always its your duty as a patriot, As said by the late president Kennedy. Also when your media (Tv,Radio and newspapers.) are told what they can and cant report, it is time to be scared. The time is now. Stand up , Protest, write your government rep's. Please for your Freedom and for your children's freedoms.
