1 of my fish is a black moore another is an orange and white fantail so how can i tell if their female or male because the black moore is smaller but it's a dark black colour!

with goldfish, you can't really tell until breeding time... the female will get round and plump. the male will chase her and he'll have little bumps on his gill covers & head.

It depends on the size of your fish, if over 1 1/2 inches should be big enough to be able to breed. Raise the temp up to above 23 0 C to induce breeding stars in males (looks like ick but on the gill covers.) OR if they are over 3 inches you might be able to tell by looking at the anal pore. The male is convex, the female concave.

Sexing goldfish is really not all that important. For the kinds that you have, the market is already flooded with these, so what would you do with 500 fry that need a home? No need to breed them.

It's virtually impossible to tell goldfish apart until they decide to show you by breeding.
