I am considering getting the Sims 2. A lot of people have said it's really good. I like simulation games, and I have The Sims and The Sims Pets. Both of them are really good.

Here are the actual questions I am asking:

1) Should I get the Sims 2?
2) What are the major differences between the Sims 2 and the Sims 1?
3) IF you think I should get it, what other versions would you recommend me getting? (Vacation, Pets, business, etc.)
4) What system should I get it on? I have a PS3 and a computer. I really think I should get it on the computer but what's your opinion? Besides, my sis would want to play it and she would get mad if she had to play it on my PS3.

No worries about computer speed or space, I have plenty.

Thanks for all of your help! I'm sure someone will be getting 10 points soon... XD

1) Yes. I had the base game and all the EPs for TS1, and currently have TS2 & all its EPs.

2) Graphics, graphics, graphics! It is so much more life-like in TS2. I was blown away by it. Looking back on it, I am shocked at the difference. Plus, there is a lot more to do- I would be bored with TS1 if I played it now.

3) If you get TS2, I would say atleast get Nightlife & Pets. Nightlife has cars and clubs and some fun social interactions and other items. The Pets is fun although I can get bored with it. You could skip University if you want, it can get boring. I haven't had a sim go to and complete college in quite some time. Open for Business is neat too, but it can also get boring. At the end of February- Seasons will be out and I just can't wait for it! Snow!

4) I like to console games, but the idea of having objectives and a story line can get old. I have the Sims on the PSP & gameboys and it just doesn't live up to the PC version. I prefer the open-ended style of the computer.

I didn't see this mentioned, but there are TONS of free download sites for TS2. I have so much custom content (clothes, furinutre, houses, hair & skins, ect.) and it's just fun to surf the different sites with lots of creative artist. Check out Modthesims2.com-- I get a download from there atleast once a week.

Also, on the PC version- you have the free will. I mean to say- you can build your home and do whatever you want. Not the case with the console versions. Plus, you can have kids and you raise them from pregnancy through elders. I hated having kids in TS1 because they NEVER grew up! Plus, the genetics are AWESOME!

Oh and I'm 22 and have been playing the sims for about 4 years. My sister in law got me started on it (she was 12 at the time)- just goes to show you the age ranges this game can be played by. I've got a friend that's 40 (married with two kids under 10) and he plays it.

Always here to talk Sims!

I really enjoy Sims 2. I think I like it better than the original. Some of the biggest differences are the genetics. Children are not randomized they actually look like their parents. Also you can build family trees of siblings, aunts, uncles, grandparents, etc. Another improvement is the aging of the sims. The children go from infancy to toddler to children to teens to adults. the adults age and grow old. As for the expansion packs I have several. I really enjoy University where you can send your sims to college. There are many benefits including being able to start careers at higher levels and more wants. I also like the new pets expansion pack. Like the original Sims you can have pets and train them but in Sims 2 you can create new breeds, raise the puppies, and pets can get jobs. I don't use Nightlife much but it does allow you to have cars and garages. Having cars means you no longer need to rely on carpools or taxis. i also enjoy Open for Business but haven't played in awhile. In this you can have your own business or shop in existing businesses. You can also work on skills such as inventory and sales. I have my games on my PC I don't have a PS so I couldn't advise you regarding the differences between the two. If you like Sims I think you will really like Sims 2. Have fun.

ms actually age and die. Which in a cool way is fun because you can create generations of sims. Also there is another meter in addition to the needs meter, which is the aspiration meter. If you fill it up, you can get points which you can use to get bonus items that boost your Sims skills/needs/etc. There is also a little bit more of a variety with the default clothing/faces/hair as well so you can make your sim as close to yourself or someone you want to play easier. sims 2 is a really great game especially if you liked the first sims
the major differences are that sims 2 has wayyyyyy more detailed features, such as buying and making the food yourself. sims 2 has more opportunities for your sims to interact with objects, such as the couch, they can sleep on the couch, or sit, in bed, they can play around, read, or *get dirty* ha yea, so really thats the main difference i saw...
I couldn't tell you what other versions to get, i have it on pc and ps2, but it only works on ps2, sooo, yea
i would recommend the computer, like i said i have it both, but the computer has extra features the ps2 or ps3 or whatever doesn't have (having kids and watching them grow)
