I work on a computer all day doing transcription. Ever so often, when typing, my work comes out like this- tlsmcji - even though my fingers are on the right keys. I have to shut down the computer and start over. Does anyone know what would cause this? Very annoying. I am not typing on line - I use microsoft word.

How much RAM do you have installed in your computer?

It depends on several things. The simplest, natuarlly, is you have mistyped.

Assuming that is not the problem, it could be software or hardware. The driver for your keyboard could be corrupt. You could have a virus. For the latter, update your virus definitions on your AV software and launch a system scan and walk away from your computer while it runs (making sure that your computer is not connected to the internet). For the driver issue, install the latest drivers, and hopefully that will resolve the issue.

For hardware...consult a tech.

Now, since you are talking about a work computer, call your IT department's help desk and tell them about the problem. At the worst, they'll replace your computer. That is, assuming you have an IT department.

You probably have several languages installed on your computer. Other European countries use different keyboard layouts. You can switch between languages using Alt+Shift usually. When language switching is enabled you will see a little blue box with two letters in it down by your clock. That's the language bar; you can either press Alt+Shift till it says EN for English, or right-click on it and choose Close The Language Bar.

May be that keyboard has a problem, just try another and see if this corrects the problem.
