Good question. I think a lot of people view the word "friend" in different ways, as I've come to find out after ending a one-sided friendship with someone.

I have 1 best friend, meaning that she knows everything about me and I know everything about her, we go to each other for advice or just when we need someone to listen, and we both call or email each other just to say hi.

As for others in my life, I'd say they were acquaintences and not friends because they are, based on experience, people that cannot be counted on and I don't feel I can trust them. I've got a heaping helping of these types, maybe 50+.

Perhaps I say this because I place such a high value on friendship and expect a friend to respect me, help me when I need it or ask, and love me for who I am.

I've found it increasingly difficult to find really good friends who deserve the "friend" title. Sorry...long-winded answer! :)

friends well over 100, good friends 50, people I can truly rely on, 20-25, I have been graced with many many friends, but have been cursed with being single. Sounds crazy, but I have tons of friends from all over the place, but yet, I am still a lonely man.??

I have one true friend, who I feel totally comfortable telling my deepest darkest secrets too and knowing she won't judge or hate me. I have a few close ones, but I wouldn't trust them with knowing some things.
