y=7x
2x-y=-10

so subtitute y with 7x and you have:

2x-7x=-10

-5x=-10

x= -10/-5

x=2

then

just subtitute 2 into x in the equation:

y=7x

y=7(2)

so y=14

er... if this is what you are trying to say... - that there are two seperate equations...
y = 7x
2x - y = -10
You would set all the y's in the second equation to 7x and solve the equation for x...
so...
2x - 7x = -10
-5x = -10
x = 2
So if x = 2 -------then going back to the first original equation... y = 7x you would then substitute in 2 for x
y = 7 (2)
y = 14
So your answer would be x = 2 and y = 14
I hope I answered your question - I didnt really understand what you were asking...
