probably England (U.S. branched from them in the first place) they've backed us up in every war over the century!!

Undoubtedly the British. Even after they supported the South during the Civil War, we saved them from the Germans twice in the 20th Century. But, it has more to do with economics really. If saving were the reason, then France would also be a close ally, as we did the same for them as well. If it weren't for the US, French people would be speaking German.

The U.S. doesn't have a single ally that has the support of it's populace in that alliance.

What allies it does have are governments that are in trouble with their own people because of the alliance.
