Most any healthy car can go 3000 miles between oil changes. Some newer synthetic oils can go longer, but I don't recommend it streaching synthetics over 5000 miles.

If the engine is really worn or sludged up, you should change the oil more often than that. Some cars built in the '50s and early '60s didn't have oil filters, so change their oil every 1,000 miles.

800 miles per quart is considered the minimum acceptable for a new engine and many well maintained older cars still go the whole distance between oil changes without needing the oil to be topped off. One quart used in 3,000 miles is excellent. Driving conditions may affect the amount of oil used. Synthetic oil makes a new engine last longer unless your changing regular oil every 3 thousand miles or less.

I don't understand the question!!!

if You asking a how many miles are recommended to make an oil change? between 3000 and 5000 miles depending on the vehicle application.
if You ask how long an engine last without oil change? many thing happen before the engine go forever.
after 5000 miles the engine is running unprotected(without lubrication) in between 5500 and 6000 is running "hot" and building carbon in the oil gallery, subsequently clogging the oil system. at that moment start wearing out all moving parts in a real fast pace. until no longer works. and stop forever(and for good)

p.s. I have witness an engine that run without oil change for as long as 23000 miles from brand new vehicle(cero mile from factory), when I have removed the oil filter and cut it in halves it was a solid piece of black rock
car was a Mercedes 500....mom's and dady's girl!!!!

Read your owners manual. Mine says 7500 miles, and it has a light that tells me when to change the oil, and it comes on every 7500 miles. The car is a 1989 thunderbird. Although i change the oil at 3000 miles or less.

Basically 3000 miles or 3 months, but you're car will not blow up if you over shoot it. Oil, cleans, cools, and lubricates, and breaks down with longer usage. Using full synthetic oils will mean you don't have to change the oil that often, your choice. Happy New Years.

those engineers have a boatload of e book getting to understand and no sensible adventure. The oil itself does not destroy down inspite of the indisputable fact that the substances do and between the jobs of oil is to assemble the contaminants from combustion and condensation and keep it in suspension so it would not abrade or corrode the metals that could want to in the different case be rubbing hostile to at least one yet another. It change into that we replaced oil each 2000 miles yet oil is getting extra effective each of the time. ok, this is not the oil it truly is getting extra effective inspite of the indisputable fact that the substances. we are utilizing a similar oil now as then, yet with extra effective substances. That blended with extra effective metallurgy means that we are able to bypass extra between oil transformations now. 3000 to 5000 miles reckoning on the kind of service you're filing your motorcar to. and adjust the clear out. don't be cheep in this one. replacing your oil is cheep compared to replacing your engine, or procuring a sparkling vehicle.

if you are thinking that the motor will run out of oil don't unless you have a leak, if it leaks fix it. as to how long, check for your vehicle(owner manual, etc). some make and models say 3k some say 5k. oil doesn't break down but the detergent in it does which will then bind with dirt to destroy the motor. always change the oil filter with the oil :)

You should change your oil every 3,000 miles or every 3 months. But you could go 10,000 mile if you really hate your car.
