You haven't actually given enough information here to answer this question. Are they the same species and what species is it? If it was mating, it would not be stimulated by food. Are they a territorial species? How much space do they have? Do you have many hiding spaces, lots of plants, rocks, sticks, etc?
Animals do not experience selfishness, it's truly a human vice.
My best guesses on this limited information are a) that they are not the same type of fish and one is territorial and the tank is too small. b) they are the same type of fish but a schooling species and their behaviour is strange because you only have two where they need to be at least 6 or c) they are two different species and are actually not compatiable to live together.

Hi JJT, You sisters fish is trying to eat all the food up from your fish. Her fish is a pig. You may have to put your fish in another tank. Good Luck. A Friend.

some fish will get aggressive over food and some are Territorial over certain areas of the tank.you might consult a pet shop as to what kind of fish you have. as some fishes aggression can end up killing other fish

they are probably mating. the female mught have eggs and the male might be chasing her. I have fish as well, and I can tell whether theyre male or female by looking at their features. males tend to be smaller, have tighter "skin" and have a narrower rump. the females are more saggy and wide and tend to be larger.

Fish are stupid animals. I wouldn't call them selfish. Selfish implies they can think about it. I'd say it's competition.
