I tried something similiar when my mum asked me to find out what I could about my dad's affair with another woman. As a genealogist I had a bit of an advantage, though admittedly it is still easier tracing dead people than living ones. That said, from the available clues I did manage to track her down and find a name and address so my mum can cite her in a divorce.
The obvious methods to start with are to try BT directory enquiries for a name and rough place and hope that they are not ex-directory or have a common surname like Smith. The next avenue is to try an electoral roll search at somewhere like 192.com or b4usearch.com, but this may not be succesful either, as for the past few years people have been able to "opt out" of the commercially available registers like this as this is one method companies use to send out junk mail. The one register they can't avoid is the one at the local town hall which would be open for inspection, but this assumes that you have the time to do such a search in person. After that, you'd probably have to start spending money. Maybe a local notice in a newspaper in an area you think she lives appealing for information, or failing that hire a private detective - someone who actually knows what they are doing.

Does your boyfriend know her social security number? If he doesn't, he can request a copy of a joint tax return filed in a previous year from www.irs.gov. A transcript of it is free and a photocopy of the original costs $39.00.
Once you've got her social security #, go online and pay for a service that traces individuals accross the US by their identifying # (SS#). Hopefully this will be of some help.
If money is no object, you could always opt to hire a private investigator and let them do all of the leg work.
Good luck!

I cannot believe how narrow minded and bigoted some of the people who have answered your question are. Just who do they think they are to judge you and your boyfriend without knowing any of the details of your relationship, or his with her!
There have been some good suggestions put forward and you could also try the Salvation Army as they have ways of finding missing people.
Good Luck, and I wish you both a Happy New Year.

Why do you want to "trace your boyfriends wife?" and why would it cost a fortune? Your question is too vague and without more information, impossible to answer.

You would need to be more detailed to get a honest answer. As my first thought was if he is married then he should have no business being your BF.
If it is for a divorce, that is a different story. If your wanting to serve divorce papers all you would have to do it, run a ad in the paper where you think she is run it for atleast 2-3 weeks, I suggest you put a email address or a PO if she contacts you then OK and if not he is free and clear to file for a divorce !

You're an idiot. His next girlfriend after his current pending or expected divorce and than his marriage to you will be asking the same question.
The cycle never ends.
All you good guys and gals...........please keep up the strong hearts. We shall prevail and not hit the increasing divorce rate that these f'ers are generating.

You need to give more information. Why would you want to trace her. why are you seeing a married man and looking for his wife. Why would you want to spend money to find her. Why would you want to find her. Get the picture?

How about searching her name on Friends Reunited.co.uk. It's a website used to search long lost school friends and work colleagues etc. If you know her maiden name and what school she went to then if she's registered herself on there then you will find her. If you are successful you will need to register with Friends Reunited and pay something like £7.50 and you will then be able to contact her via e-mail. Good luck!

I don't know why you would want to trace your boyfriends wife. If he is married then you need to leave him alone.
