I have a VERY noisy upstairs neighbor and I have to wear earplugs nightly to even think about getting sleep. I'd like to reuse the earplugs instead of having to buy new ones so often. These are the spongy, foam kind that you can buy in the hunter's section for ear protection while shooting ammo. I'm wondering if regular soap and water would work, or perhaps rubbing alcohol, or should I just continue to buy new ones? Any advice appreciated. Many thanks in advance!

I know that you want to use these over and over but they really aren't made for wash and wear. This is your hearing we are talking about, don't mess with it too much.
I have washed these type of earplugs in the washing machine by mistake and they come out clean.
But you should buy some of the rubber ones that are reusable and washable (some hand soap and water). They will block out the noise also

What do the instructions say? If no information is available, use a little liquid dish soap with tepid water. Rinse.

stop buying foam
look for the rubber ones next time you go to the store
find the right size they are usually color coded
they can be washed easily

talk your neighbor into buying them for you

Put them in a pocket of some of your clothes, and wash them in the machine, or a small cloth pouch, just don't use fabric softner, it might irritate your ear canals.
