i put my details on a helium balloon one day to see if i would get a response when i was 13, and 2 years later I received letter from a university in England to say that it was found still afloat, hovering gently in a field.:)

Is an amazing story when you con cider I let the balloon go in Tasmania, Australia.

When I was a kid, our elementary school used to have an annual Balloon Ascension. We would tie postcards with the school's address and a little message to helium-filled balloons and let them go. When a balloon came to earth, someone would find the card and send it to the school. The kid whose balloon went the farthest would win a little prize. I never won, though, but it's still a fun memory, one I hadn't thought of in years.
Thanks for reminding me!

Yeah. I've put a message in a bottle and sent it out into the ocean AND found people's messages come up on my beach. Actually it's happened a few times.

In grade school we use to tie our names and addresses of the school to a gas filled balloon and see how far the would go, I did get 2-3 in my yard and I lived about 20miles from the school. Could not do that now a days though too many freaks out there.
