My friend once told me when dealing with whatever my teenage soon throws at me;
1. always keep a sense of humour.
2. choose the battles wisely.
3. whatever your teenager throws at you always remember you have taught them well.

And a Spiritual teacher once told me to not to look for faults in others but only look for faults in myself and rid my mind of these faults.
These are what i consider the best pieces of advice given to me, what are yours???

1. The state of your soul (in a wide and deep range)
2. The way that you treat people.
3. The pure love that you have in your heart.
Never forget that all of your life has all been the test, you will find the gates open even though your spirit broken. Live life without regret, but don't be afraid to live life or you will regret it.

I think your teacher gave you a very important lesson, a spritual teacher also told me people who look for faults in others & blame others never get anywhere. Thank you for that. I forgot!

A Spiritual teacher also said have nothing to do with evil people. I think that saves alot of trouble. may people's lives have been recked becos of a lack of discerment.
God bless you, happy new year!

I would have to say a general one...

"Don't take anything for granted."

I try to think of that on a daily basis... Seems to help me appreciate almost everything.

For example... In my marriage/relationship we don't take each other for granted... we thank each other everyday, we respect each other and remain polite & kind to one another.
Sounds boring? Not at all.

Another brief example....Even though I hate my job, I appreciate the employment because that could change any day.

No one knows what will happen tomorrow...not for sure anyhow.

That's what I got today.
Happy New Year!

Looking back over my 65 years of life, the best advice, in the form of a quotation from Oscar Wilde fits the bill perfectly, in that "Youth is wasted on the young." If I knew then what I know now, things would be very much different.

Probably the best advice I ever got, and ever will get was from my grandfather:

"Remember the rose bush may be beautiful but its got thorns and cow sh*t gives it it's nutrient"

Guess what he meant is even the most beautiful things have things that we don't like about them, so just because a situation looks great doesnt mean you should just jump into it without thinking about what the consequences could be.

The wisest advice I have ever heard is to love yourself. All of the problems that people have stem from not fully loving and appreciating themselves for who they are. When you truly love and accept yourself and believe that you are worthy then everything else in your life works.

i have yet to practice it but thats what the new years for!
I have a renewed interest in zen buddhism and i really took in the idea of everything you need to know, need to use is within you - all you have to do is listen to the silence - still your mind of that incessant chatter and hear your inner voice.

I guess it would be from Richard Carlson - "Don't Sweat the Small Stuff." Until I had children, I didn't realize how much I worried about the unimportant things.

Do what ever you want, when ever you want, but make sure you don't hurt anyone (except yourself - a little pain once in a while will point you in the right direction).

-There are 3 sides to every story: My side, Your side and the Right side. Don't be too quick to jump on a bandwagon or to jump to conclusions- there's more to it!
-Judge not that you be not judged. (There are things going on that you may not understand or even know about.)
-Respect all you can in every person and don't focus on the other stuff.
