Naw that's an Old Wives Tale. The only way to catch Snipes is with a sack and a flashlight and a realistic sounding "Snipe" call. You slip around through the trees with your sack in one hand and the flashlight turned off but with your finger on the "on" switch and make the sound from where they get their name. In a high pitched voice go "Snipe! Snipe!" real quick like but not too loud and then when you hear one rustling towards you in the bushes you shine your light in their eyes real fast and it freezes them. Then you make a quick scoop with you sack and you've got one! At least that's what we tell the kids when we go camping and we want to get rid of 'em for a while so's we can talk adult talk and have a laugh!

that's just an old expression. it means, if you can get close enough to shake salt on its tail, then you might as well extend your hand two inches further and grab the rabbit. who hunts with a salt shaker, anyway? yay, second amendment!

It's an old wives tale, and it involves birds, not rabbits. Anyway, if your that close, just grab it.
