Bunch of backwards thinking answers here.
the people who say we don't support the troops if we don't support the war, are just as confused as the people who say you hate America, if you dislike President Bush and all his failures.
i can see the twisted logic of claiming it to be about equipment, and armor and all that, but that has nothing to do whatsoever, with supporting the policy of going to war.
that is more Rush-type spin and attempting to double-talk you into supporting Bush's wartime policy.

I am Navy and Army veteran and therefore I support the troops. No I do not believe in the war but I support every attempt to stop useless killing of the people of the world. I do not know why the US has to be the big brother to the world but we are. I would prefer peace in the world but that is a fantasy.
I support the troops and their mission. These guys are no different than the rest of us that served. I entered the service at 19 and spent two tours in Vietnam. Many service people made it through that time but yes, many died. I knew many of the names listed on the memorial and I still support the troops and yes I would like for all of them to come home.
I know the pain of loosing a child, as I lost my son when he was only 17. I think about him everyday. I know the pain of the other parents that have lost children.
Yes, I support the troops but I do not want to see another 911.

If you support the war, you beleive it is the right thing to be involved in. If you don't support the war, you beleive it is the wrong thing to do.
But if you support the troops, you beleive that whether or not the war is the right thing, the soldiers fighting it need encouragement, the good wishes of the home countries population, and the provision of good food, clean water, and proper equipment for doing the job, they were sent to do, and have no choice about.
If you don't support the troops, I would think you haven't thought this through, they were sent by your government to represent your country, to do a difficult and dangerous job that your country is committed to. The troops are sent there, as they will be sent other places in the future. As long as they do the job they were sent for, and treat the civilian population as well as possible, and treat captured combattants according to the Geneva Convention, They will have my respect and support, no matter what I think of the war.

you may help the troops and not the war. i don't trust you asserting that each and every physique that helps the war is happy regarding the undeniable fact that our infantrymen are dying, or that we are spending lots of money on the war. How dare you're saying that. No American is happy to make certain our infantrymen wounded or injured, or to make certain them face difficult cases interior the war and afterwards. the elementary concept of helping the troops is to not carry them answerable for the strikes of the politicians, to disconnect them from the killing they'd desire to do as a results of fact it somewhat is their interest. in case you have a concern with the war, take it out on the politicians, not the infantrymen. i will provide you some credit inspite of the shown fact that: many a tactics ideal-wingers use a help our troops concept as being a binary situation, the place in case you help the troops you help each and every thing in contact with the war. they're improper, and that's not the case.

i support our troops on a moral basis, they have a job to do right or wrong they don't have a choice in the matter. One does not have to support a war to support the troops. Even though there are no WMD's in Iraq, Saddam needed to be taken out. He was a cruel and evil person and that made him a threat to everyone. If he wasn't smart enough to learn from his first experience with the US then he was too stupid to live are be allowed to continue rulling Iraq. He gained power through murder.
The world my not be safer without him but we did prevent at least one person from threatening the US and an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. However, I do believe that the war is getting out of hand. War is never a pretty thing but if victory is to be truly declared then the troops need to be allowed to divide and conquor or they need to be brought home. You cannot fight a war when your hands are tied. Politicians and the public need to butt out in order to untie the hands of our troops. Yes they need to be kept informed but they don't need to know ever horid detail. Vietnam was a catastrophy for the same reason this is turning into a catastrophy. The only person who has any business sticking their nose into the war is the President, everyone else needs to buggar off.
That's my oppinion and I'm sticking to it.

No.... but i do support the troops. They are sacrificing everything . Someone has to do it(either by choice- sometimes even draft)- and i admire them for giving it their all. Support doesnt mean you are paying taxes- and their wages... it means you try to do things to help them... write letters- send a package- keep their spirits up when it must be so awful there. Just a simple thank you does wonders like we do to so many people here at home. Im a flight attendant- and any time i have a soldier on the plane- or a veteran (you see the older men with their war caps on- so proud) i never make them pay for a drink. So- no, i dont like war... but do i support troops- absolutely!! It could be one of your family members....

You don't have to agree with the reasonings of the war...but the many men and women in uniform NEED to know that the US citizens stand behind them and support them.
If you don't think supporting the troops abroad is important...sit down with any Vietnam Vet and ask them.
They need us because they are far from their home and family doing their job, not knowing where the next bullet is coming from!

I DON'T support the war but I DO support the troops!!! the troops were forced into going to fight by the American government! it wasn't their decision at all!! many of them didn't want to leave their families. I believe that they SHOULD come home though. they are brave and well-honored men and women who are just doing what they're told! so, the two aren't the same in my mind. However, I DON'T support Bush or any of his decisions!!!!!
I just pray for their safety and return!

Not at all - I support any American who is doing the job they signed up to do. I feel BAD for them that they are being required to participate in a political and economic power struggle for which our leadership was complicit in staging purely for its own gain. They are pawns. They may never come home. They had full lives with meaning, god willing, before going over there. Now everything for them is at stake. My heart goes out to the troops. I completely oppose this war.

I believe all Americans support our troops and want them to return safely. It really doesn't matter where they are stationed...there are service people in Germany, Italy - all around the world. Supporting the troops is standing behind the people who are serving our country - not the place they're doing it.
