i don't know about divided yet. the republicans still control the media. as long as they can still misinform they have a chance. the difference between the rich and the poor is growing every day, but the poor have enough to get by. the day they realize they been screwed, and deserve something better, maybe something will happen

America is a very divided nation, and becomes more so as people realize their government has been lying to them about pretty much everything. The dividing line is "informed". Most republicans or conservatives just believe whatever they're told becasue they actually think their government would not lie to them (even though our history does not support such sheep dip). But some can look at what is going on and figure out that deception is in the air. There are two worlds in the U.S., determined by thought and enlightenment. The government wants you to believe their info so you will not challenge the neoconservative movement of going to war in all the countries we don't like. But this info doesn't make sense to the informed people, who read a lot of internet and books and can see that everyone in the U.S is being duped. Remember, WARS ARE NEVER FOUGHT FOR THE REASONS GIVEN TO THE PUBLIC!!! Begin your education by getting informed about 9/11 and the world will make much more sense to you, though you won't like it...

Liberal elitists would have you think so. Lib v. Con? Look at the national election map, the liberal blue seems to be concentrated in the Northeast and West coast. The rest if the US, the center where all the work to make the country run and keep it fed, is predominantly Conservative.

Rich v. Poor? It would be better if lower income persons looked at HOW wealthy people got that way and emulated it, rather that simply defile them and wait and demand that the government make them rich.

Bush has been a staunch ally of the truth. The truth supported by facts, not the liberal brand of truth which they make up as they go and changes with situational necessity.

Not only is America divided along so many lines, it was designed that way from the very beginning. If you'll go back and look at our history, all, if not most of the men who drafted and signed the declaration of independence were wealthy men. And as such, the laws that were mandated for our country were based upon wealthy vs non-wealthy. Even today, a poor person and in particular a poor African-American, stands a better chance of being convicted of a crime than does a wealthy white person.

In rare instances when a wealthy person is convicted, they do not serve their sentence at a state ran facility. They are usually put in what we would call a "country club" setting.

America is/has been/and will continue to be divided by money, religion, politics, race, sexism etc etc etc ! The powers that be want it that way. For a country as great as ours and as wealthy as ours, there's now ay we should have as many homeless people as we do. Policies put in by the Reagan/Bush, Sr. administrations are now coming or have came to fruition years after they were first drafted and we now see an abundance of homeless, jobless and mentally ill people roaming the streets and creating problems simply because our government and our society have abandoned them. If you'll study the urban areas of America (areas that are mostly African American), they have been left behind in terms of economic development for years since the death if Martin Luther King, Jr. and Bobby Kennedy. Most inner cities in America have the highest unemployment, death rate , disease, the poorest education etc etc and here almost 40 years later after the death of these two great Americans, our inner cities still suffer from the ills of a racist bitter society.

Just look at the hurricane Katrina victims ! If there people were well-to-do white people, do you honestly think the federal government would have responded as slow as they have ? I think not and that's the sad fact of America.

George "Dubya" Bush has not told the truth about the Iraq situation since it began and now only now when he's coming to the end of his term he's suggesting that maybe just maybe we made a mistake.

I think that America is definitely a divided nation.. mostly between liberals and conservatives. As you can even see on Yahoo Answers.. liberals and conservatives are asking stupid questions like "why do conservatives worship satan" and "why do liberals hate babies." We need to unify the country in some way soon...

The country isn't necessarily divided, just being on YA shows us how completely different we are from each other. If I saw a person being beaten on the street, I wouldn't stop to ask if that person was liberal or conservative, before I jumped into the fray.

I am sure that we are not divided by the ways you have portrayed. We are divided by people who speak of the divisions you speak of. Just look back at 911 when we had a common goal. The vast majority of Americans were all speaking the same speak. Back us into a corner and find out how much we fight for the same thing. Our country is divided by biased reporting and biased politicians. The American people are not divided in what we believe in.

I would have to agree that most people are blind to the truth, I was at one point. I was raised in a Republican family and voted that way till the early 90's. I was third generation to join the military in my family. I have seen things first hand that changed my point of view after that. I think we need to look at who is the best person for the job, not what party they belong to. I really think we are at a crossroads as a country. We will either correct the error of our ways (war, gobal warming, and unemployment) or we will soon topple like the Roman Empire.

Yes because you have the closed minded people who can only blame our president and not realize the truth that what happens in the past will come back to bite you, and that is what has happened with this war. No previous president has finished what they have started related to this war. American people only think of themselves What do we care as we sit in our warm house with all the finer things in life. We don't have bombs going off around us. So we can have people who spu their crap about there oil. Do your research guys Iraq is one of the least places we receive our oil, try Canada. And if the liberals and tree huggers would shut up and let us start to drill in our own country oil prices would go down.

Yes, it is divided. But it is Conservatives who want to preserve our way of life vs Liberals who wish to destroy it.
And a liberal wouldn't know the truth if it reached up and bit his doobie.
