I recently was talking to a guy online and I don't use my first name on my profile. I use my middle name and I never reveal my first name till I know someone well enough. I had been talking to a guy for two weeks and using my middle name but a couple days ago I signed my message with my first name. I knew he would know who I was because the message was sent through the dating service and had my picture and all. He sent me a message back saying I thought I was talking to , that's not your real name? I sent him a message back saying I never give my real name at first and I have not heard back from him. Is is unreasonable to want to be cautious? Why did it tick this guy off so much? I have guys reveal stuff to my all the time on our first meeting that are alot worse than having a different name.

Some of the things guys have failed to reveal to my until the first meeting :
being divorced more than once
not mentioning that his 3 children are all unlder 10 (this particular guy was 56 so I presumed they were grown)
no actually being divorced
indicating that they make 100k but from talking to them it is obvious it is a lie (why would he live in a two bedroom run down house that needs repairs if he makes so much?)
pulling out a cigarrete when the said they were a nonsmoker
saying they wanted to take things slow but still trying to touch me on the first day

You didn't do anything wrong; and the guy should have been flattered at the sign that you were beginning to trust him more.

There is nothing wrong with being cautious. He may have felt that because he was being real with you you should be real with him and he may have felt like if you would fib about something like that, what else were you not telling the truth about.
You say that you have guys reveal stuff to you that is worse than what you did all the time, but was is stuff that they had not been truthful about in the beginning? If not, revealing is part of getting to know each other. If the answer was yes, did it make you wonder what else they lied about, I know it would me!!
Just keep in mind that some people are into honesty and there are ways of being cautious and still being honest, you could be up front with a person and tell them that it is your middle name and that you will reveal your first name in time, that might even be seen as mysterious!!!!!! Think about it

I would say that if the guy was ticked off at you for not using your real name, keep looking. You have every right to protect yourself, and if someone doesn't understand or support your decision to do so, I would question as to whether that person had your best interests in mind.

Hey if he can't understand a girl being cautious these days, especially on the internet, then he'll never be understanding about anything! Good thing you found out now what a "nice understanding guy" he is.

Why worry about it. If he gets butt hurt over something like that, he's not worth talking to any ways. As far as revealing you first name, it's not like it matters. Nobody can track you down or destroy your identity by having your first name. You will feel relieved that the loser is no longer talking to you!!!

Kaps my pal nameless names are for those preferring to in basic terms supply their call to those they believe over the internet.Plus there have been situations of stalkers monitoring down human beings over the internet so it style of a precaution as nicely.

well i can totally understand why you don't use your name at first, and i can also understand why the guy would feel i bet lied too, or feel untrustworthy. But if he cannot understand that your are trying to keep yourself from being killed by some nut, well too bad for him

That's unreasonable. You were just being safe He shouldn't fault you for that. If he does just move on.
