weight loss can keep you from having a period sometimes or keep it from being regular, but I would go to the doctor because there could be something seriously wrong. That isnt something I would risk just because I was scared to tell my mom, she would get over whatever it is.

In order to give you an accurate opinion, we'd need more imformation from you:
1) How old are you? The younger you are, the more likely you are to be irregular in your cycles.
2) Are you sexually active, and practice unsafe sex? If yes ... it is a good bet you could be pregnant. (I'm assuming this may be why you are afraid to talk to your mom????)
3) How much weight did you loose? Are you now significantly under weight? If so, then your period may not return until you are at a more ideal weight range.
4) Have you ever been diagnosed with a menstrual disorder like Polycistic Ovarian Disease? If yes, then not having a period for 5 months is a symptom.
Whatever the cause, it is likely you will need to be seen by a doctor to get it started. If you are pregnant you have gone far too long without prenatal care.
If you are not pregnant, your doctor may most likely put you on Progesterone for a couple of days to jump start your cycle again.
If you do not want your mom to know about this, there are several county health facilities that will see you without parental permission. (But first things first ... go buy a Home Pregnancy Test and find out if that is why you have not started.)
If it comes back negative, then there is no reason to be afraid to talk to your mom and tell her your concerns. She will want to help you. If it comes back positive then there is another bridge you will have to cross and we will be happy to answer any questions you may have on that topic.
I wish you well!!

If you are young, it is common for your period to be irregular, even stopping for months at a time. If you are over 18, this is not so common and you should probably go see the doctor. Other reasons for missing periods could be stress, illness (even something like the common cold can throw off your cycle), drastic weight loss or weight gain, change in eating habits... pregnancy (if you are sexually active; if not I wouldn't worry). If you are this concerned you should go see the doctor just to get everything checked out and maybe go on birth control so you KNOW your period will come very month. Talk to your mom, she will help calm your worries, that's what moms are for!

hey dont worry my period dont the same thing once, it can be caused from stress, diet changes and things. Eventually I did tell my mom and she said that it was nothing to worry about. She said that her period was never really regular when she was younger. But she did tell me that coffee, tea, and pepper would help to start your period, it does work, like once I was late again and I drank like 4 or 5 cups of coffee and the next day there was my period!! Pepper is good too!!! You will be ok, but if you dont have your period for a really long time you would need to tell your mom. But for just 5 months you shouldnt worry
Dont be all stressed out because that could be your problem

Are you very lively or skinny? This has lots to do with dropping your era. I do advise if it maintains to be this extraordinary which you have a good gyn checkup. i think of all women choose one by employing the time they get their era or atleast by employing the time they are sexual lively. i'm optimistic you're advantageous and it in simple terms ought to be the type you're till your hormones straighten out.

If you are sexually active, you could be pregnant. Other reasons for not having your period could be PCOS or you are too thin. Maybe a trip to the GYN is in order.
