I can't give you a percentage but check forums and you can have an idea of how many Americans are GAY.. take into consideration people who are hiding in the closet.

Studies done in the United States have shown that the number of male homosexuals is approximately 10% and the number of female homosexuals is approximately 4%. It also appears that only half of those who are truly homosexual are "out".

The Kinsey Reports of 1948 and 1953 stated 37% of males and 13% of females had homosexual experiences, but this includes incidental homosexual experience. The study reported 10% of males being more or less exclusively homosexual and 2% to 6% of females being more or less exclusively homosexual.
A 1990 study (Homosexuality/Heterosexuality by McWhirter, Sanders, and Reinisch) stated 13.95% of males and 4.25% of females had "extensive" or "more than incidental" homosexual experience.
A 1993 study (The Janus Report on Sexual Behavior) found 9% of men and 5% of women were involved in frequent or ongoing homosexual experiences, but only 4% of men and 2% of women called themselves homosexual. This difference can be attributed as those who were 'out' and those who were 'closeted'.

according to the US Census 1.51% of the population of the United States self-identify as gay. What about those who don't tell the government that they are gay? Do they count too?

Gee! I haven't checked the Gay-Census recently, why don't I do that and I'll let you know.

For your information, it is proved that 1 person out of 10 is gay... so we are a lot dear!

Long ago, the Kinsey Report said that gays inhabited 10% of the population; Of course, it didn't say how many were bisexual and how many of them were still in the closet.

Since it is more "socially acceptable" (yeah, right), I would have to say it's about 50% now.

In education classes, they say that one in ten students is probably gay, so the likelihood is that at least one or two in every class are gay. I'd assume those numbers hold true for the adult population as well.

well it is estimated that there are 10% of the male population but they honestly dont know how many females are gay. and it is impossible to ever know for sure because so many are in the closet.
