Oven cleaner. Otherwise it's normal discoloration and all you can do is replace them.

Depends on the grime. Formula 409 and Mean and Green are both good but they smell awful. Honestly, I buy an oven cleaner for a General Dollar store, spray on and let sit for 3 minutes or so and its gone.

Is it gas or electric? Are you talking about the actual electrical elements, pans underneath or, if gas, are you talking about the nozzle where the flame comes out?

Gas: IF it is the nozzles where the flame comes out, use an aluminum brush after getting all the grease off.

Electric: Element. Just clean with soap and water.
Pan underneath element. Remove and put in pan of boiling water. Then use some "elbow grease".
Last: Replace. Good luck. Pops

Spray them down with oven cleaner, let it sit for the recomended time then wipe them clean then rinse them off. I would definetly recomend that you wear gloves because the oven cleaner can do to your skin what it does to the grease.
