I may grab the antique dinner bell and ring it. More fun to set off the panic button and have my car lights flash and horn honk. Best part: I can set it off from inside the house.

Oh! I have heard of a ceremony where they literally ring in the New Year, by hand-ringing a whole song, many songs, all using diffent pitched bells that they swing back and forth.

It's supposed to be really beautiful. I met one person who was very proud to be one of the bell ringers.

He would come from a neighboring town, 12 miles away, to do this. So Kool!

Yes. I think I'll go buy some bells to ring. I stated in another answer that I read you make noise - yelling, ringing bell, etc. - to keep the evil spirits away. I think the kids will enjoy the bells.

Oh yeah ! No big party but I just cannot go to bed without a wee dram and hearing the bells! A few of the family tonight and socialising tomorrow. Will be great!

Happy New Year to you!!
