If you feel that way about it you should consider not taking her out because you will probably embarrass her instead. I can think of many other things to be embarrassed about and that's not one of them.

The key word you used is "Friend." Why would you be embarrassed by a person in a wheel chair, especially if you are their friend?

I have a very good friend that is in a wheel chair. He speaks three languages and is one of the smartest people I have ever met! I have learned more from him that from people that are not in wheelchairs.

The fact is, I love taking him around people because, he is wonderful. I like having diverse people in my life. Anyone who is a good person and makes me feel good to be around them can hang out with me). It doesnt matter there skin color, race, creed or in this case physical capabilities.

How would you like it if someone was ashamed of you? Think about it. Take a look in the mirror and decide whether friendship is what you are seeking or to put on airs.

If you are only interested in impressing others, do your friend a favor and let her spend New Years with someone else. There are plenty of fake people to hang out with during this time of year.

Nothing to be embarrassed about; her condition is not who she is; and as most of the people you will see out New Year's Eve, they likely will not notice she is even in a wheel chair; just think it is a new-wave punk chair and be envious they didn't find that cool chair first if they notice it at all.

That's very natural although I know you'll get responses telling you your shallow. YOUR not. Very normal reaction. Don't be embarrassed. Go out and have fun and remember that you never know if you may be in the same situation as her someday and wouldn't if be awful if you were at home alone all because someone was afraid of what others might say or think. HAVE FUN! Make her feel special. Don't even think about the wheelchair. '-)

Thats awful, if you thought enough about taking her out then her being in a wheel chair should not be an issue.

Then you need to question your friendship. Why would you be embarrassed,is it because of you she is in the wheel chair?
Please think this over carefully & make some changes in your life to be possitive

Do it to make her day. Trust me, she will appreciate it much. You may not feel as embarrassed as you think. Do it because you could have been the one in the wheelchair.
