Sound Blaster http://www.soundblaster.com/ has some sound cards that have external components, but unfortunately there doesn't appear to be any that are purely external. The reason being that on a laptop you can't add an internal sound card, you are stuck with whatever the computer was built with. You would need a 5.1 sound card and computer speaker system in order to truly have surround sound. With that said I own the Logitech Z4 speakers that I got at best buy. The sound is incredible for speakers of that size. They have amazing quality sound, amazing bass (and mid-range and treble), and they go louder than you'd ever need computer speakers to go in your wildest dreams. I just connect the Logitech Z4 speakers to the audio out on my laptop and it's wonderful! http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/details/US/EN,CRID=2173,CONTENTID=10937
Good luck and I hope this was helpful.

If you have an outlet from your sound card you should be able to use the two speaker set. The surround sound requires quite a bit of power and consists of 5 speakers, a control and a huge amp. I have that on this computer and when I bought a newer one I opted for the two speaker stereo set up as it just isn't worth the extra money to me.
